# Goethe A2 Listening Part 2 – Radio Show

> Listening Part 2 of the Goethe-Zertifikat A2: hear a short radio show and solve 5 true/false tasks. Strategy, common mistakes and a worked example.

## Key takeaways

- You hear a short radio show and decide for 5 statements: true or false?
- Watch for the important information and for negations.

- Task type: True/False
- Focus: Understanding a radio show

## What this part tests

Part 2 tests whether you understand a short radio show or piece – for example about an event, the weather or an everyday topic. You decide for five statements whether they are true or false.

The concrete information matters: when? where? what happens? Read the statements before listening and think about what to focus on. You usually hear the text once.

A false statement often differs in just one detail or reverses the information (e.g. “fällt aus” instead of “findet statt”). Watch for negations and numbers. Every correct decision scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.

**What you practice:** Understanding a radio show, Watching for details, Deciding true/false

## How to approach it

1. Before listening, read all statements and mark the key words.
2. Listen to the show and follow the statements in order.
3. Compare each statement with what you hear – watch for numbers and negations.
4. Watch for words like “fällt aus”, “nicht”, “kein” – they reverse the statement.
5. Decide and transfer your answer to the answer sheet.

## Example task with answer

A short example in the same format: you hear a radio show and decide whether the statement is true.

**Du hörst (sinngemäß):** „Und nun das Wetter: Morgen wird es sonnig und warm, bis zu 25 Grad. Erst am Abend kann es im Norden regnen."

- Statement: “Tomorrow it will be warm and sunny all day.”
  - Answer: False (Falsch) — In the show it “kann am Abend im Norden regnen” (may rain in the evening in the north) – so not sunny all day. The statement isn’t quite right – false.

## Practice: test yourself

- Is the statement true or false? Statement: “The flea market takes place even if it rains.”
  - r) True (Richtig)
  - f) False (Falsch)
  - Answer: f — The show says “Bei Regen fällt er aus” (if it rains it’s canceled). The statement claims the opposite – so it’s false.

## Common mistakes

- **Missing a negation:** “fällt aus”, “nicht”, “kein” reverse the statement. Listen out for them specifically.
- **Missing a detail:** Even a different time or place makes the statement false. Listen closely.
- **Not reading first:** Without knowing the statements you don’t know what to listen for. Use the reading time.
- **Leaving boxes blank:** No answer means a guaranteed zero. Decide even if you have to guess.

## Tips

- Watch for numbers, times and negations – that’s often where it’s decided.
- Follow the statements in order.
- Don’t get stuck on one statement – decide and listen on.
