## What this part tests

Part 4 tests whether you understand an interview – one person is asked about a topic, for example their job, hobby or daily life. You decide for five statements whether they are true or false.

It’s important to grasp the person’s stance and statements exactly. The statement is often paraphrased, not literal. Watch for “aber”, “früher/heute” and judgements.

A false statement often picks up a word from the interview but reproduces it wrongly, or confuses then and now. Listen to the whole interview. Every correct decision scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.

## How to approach it

1. Before listening, read all statements and mark the key words.
2. Listen to the interview and follow the statements in order.
3. Watch for the person’s stance (good/bad, then/now).
4. Compare each statement with what you hear: is the meaning right?
5. Decide and transfer your answer to the answer sheet.

  - Answer: False (Falsch) — The person says “Ich möchte bald aufs Land ziehen” (I want to move to the countryside soon) because the city is “zu laut” (too loud). The statement is wrong – false.

  - Answer: r — The cook says “heute liebe ich meinen Beruf” (today I love my job). The statement reflects that correctly in different words – true. “Anstrengend” was only at the start.

## Common mistakes

- **Confusing then and now:** “Am Anfang … aber heute …” – watch what is true now.
- **Same word, wrong statement:** A word from the interview doesn’t make the statement right. Grasp the meaning.
- **Missing the judgement:** Watch for “gern”, “leider”, “liebe ich” – they show the stance.
- **Leaving boxes blank:** No answer means a guaranteed zero. Decide even if you have to guess.
