# Goethe A2 Writing Part 2 – Forum Post

> Writing Part 2 of the Goethe-Zertifikat A2: write a short forum post or comment on a topic. Structure, useful phrases and a worked example with answer.

## Key takeaways

- You write a short forum post or comment on a topic.
- Give your opinion or experience and cover the guide points.

- Task type: Forum post
- Focus: Writing an opinion

## What this part tests

In Part 2 you write a short forum post or comment on a topic – for example about leisure, work, home or food. You give your opinion or describe your experience and cover the given guide points.

What’s decisive is that you comment clearly on the topic, briefly justify your opinion and address all guide points. The style is a bit more neutral than in Part 1, but still simple. A greeting and sign-off are usually not needed here.

The most common losses of marks: not writing on the topic, forgetting a guide point or not justifying your opinion. Whoever hits the topic, justifies their opinion with “weil” and covers all points writes convincingly.

**What you practice:** Giving an opinion, Justifying, Covering guide points

## How to approach it

1. Read the topic and the guide points carefully.
2. Start with your opinion on the topic (“Ich finde …”, “Meiner Meinung nach …”).
3. Briefly justify your opinion with “weil”.
4. Cover the guide points with one to two sentences each.
5. Link your sentences with “und”, “aber”, “weil”.
6. Check at the end: written on the topic, all guide points, opinion justified?

## Example task with answer

A short example in the same format: the task and a model post.

**Aufgabe:** In einem Forum geht es um das Thema „Urlaub am Meer oder in den Bergen?". Schreibe deine Meinung. Leitpunkte: (1) Was magst du lieber? (2) Warum? (3) Was machst du dort gern?

- Model post:
— The post gives a clear opinion (prefers the sea), justifies it (“weil ich gern schwimme …”) and covers all guide points (what you prefer, why, what you do there) – exactly what Part 2 expects.

## Practice: test yourself

In einem Forum geht es um das Thema „Soll man am Wochenende arbeiten?".

- Which sentence is good for giving your opinion?
  - a) Meiner Meinung nach sollte man am Wochenende frei haben, weil man sich erholen muss.
  - b) Das Wetter ist heute schön.
  - c) Ich weiß nicht, was ich schreiben soll.
  - Answer: a — In a forum post you give your opinion with a reason. Option a does that (“Meiner Meinung nach …, weil …”). b is off-topic, c says nothing.

## Common mistakes

- **Off the topic:** Write exactly on the given topic, not about something else.
- **Opinion without a reason:** “Ich finde das gut.” isn’t enough. Justify with “weil …”.
- **Forgetting a guide point:** All guide points must appear. Tick them off after writing.
- **Writing too complicated:** Write short, simple sentences. Understandable matters more than complicated.

## Tips

- Start with your opinion and justify it with “weil”.
- Cover each guide point with one to two sentences.
- Keep it simple and understandable.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long should the forum post be?

Short – a few sentences in which you give your opinion and cover all guide points.

### Do I need a greeting and sign-off?

In Part 2 (forum post) usually not. You start directly with your opinion on the topic.

### Do I have to justify my opinion?

Yes. Briefly justify your opinion with “weil …”. That shows more language ability.

### How do I get feedback on my post?

The official PDF answer key does not grade writing. At Prepliq a mock exam grades your text automatically against the official criteria.
