Key takeaways
Part 3 tests whether you understand a private everyday conversation between two people – for example two friends talking about plans, experiences or opinions. You decide for seven statements whether they are true or false.
It’s about following the natural conversation and grasping concrete statements and opinions. The statements follow the order of the conversation. Importantly, you hear the conversation only once.
A false statement often picks up a word from the conversation but reproduces it wrongly, or confuses who says what. Watch who is speaking. Every correct decision scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.
Before listening, read all seven statements and mark the key words.
Listen to the conversation and follow the statements in order.
Watch who says what and who holds which opinion.
Compare each statement with what you hear: is the meaning right?
Mark your answer right away, because you hear only once.
A short example in the same format: you hear a conversation and decide whether the statement is true.
„Fährst du dieses Jahr wieder in die Berge?" – „Nein, diesmal möchte ich ans Meer. In den Bergen war ich schon oft, jetzt brauche ich mal Strand und Ruhe."
Statement: “The person is going to the mountains this year.”
Why? The person says “diesmal möchte ich ans Meer” (this time I want the sea) and has been “in den Bergen schon oft”. The statement is wrong – false.
Du hörst (sinngemäß) ein Gespräch: „Hast du das neue Café am Markt schon ausprobiert?" – „Ja, der Kuchen ist toll, aber es ist immer sehr voll. Ich gehe lieber früh am Morgen hin."
Is the statement true or false? Statement: “The person likes going to the café in the morning.”
