## What this part tests

Part 1 tests whether you understand a longer personal text – usually a blog post in which someone tells of an experience. You read the text and decide for six statements whether they are true or false.

It’s about detail comprehension: what did the person do, why, with what result? You don’t have to understand every word, just find the important information. Read the statement first, then look for the matching spot in the text.

A false statement often differs in just one detail or reverses an intention (the person wanted something but didn’t do it). Read carefully. Every correct decision scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.

## How to approach it

1. Read the statement first and underline the important information.
2. Look for the matching spot in the text for that information.
3. Compare the statement with the text: is it really correct?
4. Watch for intentions (“wollte”, “eigentlich”) – they are often not carried out.
5. Decide true or false and move on to the next statement.
6. Transfer your answers to the answer sheet in good time.

A short example in the same format: you read a short text and decide whether the statement is true.

- Statement: “The person can concentrate well today.”
  - Answer: True (Richtig) — At first it was “schwierig” (difficult), but “inzwischen klappt es gut” (now it works well). So the positive applies today – the statement is correct, true.

## Common mistakes

- **Confusing intention and action:** “Ich wollte fliegen, aber …” – the person didn’t do it. Read carefully what actually happened.
- **Overlooking a detail:** Even a different place or time makes the statement false. Read carefully.
- **Not reading the statement first:** Read the statement first, then the text – that way you search purposefully.
- **Leaving boxes blank:** No answer means a guaranteed zero. Decide even if you have to guess.
