As of 2026 · Built to the official exam format
Key takeaways
- A longer interview and 10 true/false tasks.
- You hear it only once. The statements usually follow the order of the conversation.
What this part tests
Part 2 tests detail comprehension. You hear a longer, connected conversation – usually a radio interview in which two or more people talk about a topic – and decide for ten statements whether they’re true or false.
The statements usually follow the order of the conversation, so you keep pace step by step. At B2 you hear the interview only once – you can’t rewind. The statement almost never appears word for word; it’s usually paraphrased.
False statements often contain a small but decisive difference – a different number, a different person, a negation or an exaggerated generalization. Rely on the audio alone, not on your prior knowledge. Every correct decision scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.
How to approach it
- 1
Before listening, read all ten statements and mark the key words.
- 2
Listen to the interview and follow the statements in order.
- 3
Compare each statement with the content – watch for numbers, negations and small differences.
- 4
Who says what? With several speakers, keep track of who holds which view.
- 5
At the end, decide on every statement and transfer your answers.
Example task with answer
A short example in the same format: you hear an extract from an interview and decide whether the statement is true.
Statement: “Productivity has fallen because of the four-day week.”
Why? In the audio productivity has “nicht gesunken” (not fallen). The statement claims the opposite – so it’s false. The difficult changeover is a separate point.
Practice: test yourself
Is the statement true or false? Statement: “The person regrets working from home.”
Common mistakes
A word from the audio doesn’t make the statement true. The answer depends on the meaning.
“nicht”, “kein”, “nie” flip the statement. Listen for them specifically.
With several speakers: keep track of who voices which opinion.
At B2 you hear it only once. Concentrate from the start instead of hoping for a second listen.
Tips
- Watch especially for numbers, times and negations – that’s where the traps hide.
- Follow the statements in order so you don’t lose track.
- Don’t get stuck on a statement – decide and keep listening.

Is the interview in Part 2 played twice?
No. At B2 you hear the interview only once. Concentrate from the very first second.
What do I do if I don’t understand a passage?
