Key takeaways
Part 3 tests whether you understand an everyday conversation – for example two people planning or discussing something. You answer five tasks with three answers each (a, b or c).
It’s often about the outcome: what do the people agree on? what is decided? Listen to the end, because the answer often comes only at the close. You usually hear the conversation twice.
Wrong options often pick up a first suggestion that then gets changed. Watch for the final decision. Every correct answer scores points; wrong answers are not penalized.
Before listening, read the questions and answers.
Listen to the conversation to the end – the decision often comes last.
Watch for what the people agree on in the end.
Choose the option that reflects the outcome.
Check your answer on the second listening.
A short example in the same format: you hear a conversation and choose the right answer.
„Nehmen wir das Auto?" – „Bei dem Stau lieber die Bahn. Die ist schneller." – „Stimmt, dann fahren wir mit der Bahn."
How do the people travel? (a) by car · (b) by train · (c) by bike
Why? Because of the traffic jam the people choose “die Bahn” (“dann fahren wir mit der Bahn”). The right answer is b.
Du hörst (sinngemäß) ein Gespräch: „Wollen wir am Freitag ins Kino?" – „Am Freitag muss ich arbeiten. Geht es auch am Samstag?" – „Klar, Samstag passt mir gut."
When do the two people go to the cinema?
