Listening is one of the four modules of the Goethe-Zertifikat A2 exam. You hear different everyday texts – announcements and messages, a radio show, a conversation and an interview – and solve tasks about them. In total that’s 20 tasks in four parts. You have around 30 minutes for it.

It has four modules: reading, listening, writing and speaking. Reading, listening and writing are written; speaking is oral and usually takes place in pairs with a partner.
The written part takes around 90 minutes: about 30 minutes each for reading, listening and writing. The oral exam takes about 15 minutes.
The three written modules (reading, listening, writing) are graded together – you need at least 45 of 75 points. For speaking you need at least 15 of 25 points. Overall that’s around 60 %.
Both certify the A2 level but have a slightly different format. The Goethe-Zertifikat A2, for example, has four parts each in reading and listening. Check which exam your exam center offers.
Practice each module separately, do full model tests and get feedback above all for writing and speaking. At Prepliq you do realistic mock exams with instant scoring – writing and speaking are graded automatically against the official criteria.
Each Goethe-Institut or exam center sets the fee itself. Ask your exam center directly for the current price and the next dates. Anyone who fails pays the full fee again for the next attempt – a realistic Prepliq mock costs only a fraction of that and prepares you to pass first time.
