Listening is the first part of the written telc A2 exam. You hear simple everyday texts – phone messages, radio information and short conversations – and decide for each statement whether it is true or false. In total that’s 15 tasks in three parts. You have around 20 minutes for it.
Reading is part of the written telc A2 exam. You read simple everyday texts – short letters and emails, ads and notices – and solve tasks about them. In total that’s 15 tasks in three parts. Reading and writing share a block of around 50 minutes; plan about 30 minutes for reading.
Writing is the part of the telc A2 exam where you produce text yourself. It has two parts: in Part 1 you fill in a form (five missing pieces of information), in Part 2 you write a short personal letter – for example an invitation, a cancellation or a request. Reading and writing share a block of around 50 minutes; plan about 20 minutes for writing.
Speaking – the oral exam – is the last part of the telc A2 exam. You speak in three parts, usually in a small group with other participants. The exam lasts around 15 minutes. You speak with the others and with the examiner.

It has a written and an oral part. In writing you do listening, reading and writing; in the oral exam you introduce yourself, talk about a topic and plan something together with a partner.
The written part takes around 70 minutes: about 20 minutes for listening and around 50 minutes for reading and writing together. The oral exam takes about 15 minutes.
You pass telc German A2 with 60 % of the total points. There is no fixed minimum per exam part – you can offset weaker parts with stronger ones.
It’s the same exam. “Start Deutsch 2” is the joint name for the A2 exam; the structure, level and assessment are identical.
A2 is one level higher than A1: the texts are a little longer, the vocabulary larger, and in speaking you don’t just say single sentences but also talk about a topic and plan something together.
Each exam center sets the fee itself. Ask your telc center directly for the current price and the next dates. Anyone who fails pays the full fee again for the next attempt – a realistic Prepliq mock costs only a fraction of that and prepares you to pass first time.
