What this part tests

In Part 2 you write a forum post (around 80 words) on a current topic – for example environment, media, work or community. You give your opinion and justify it. Often there is a short question or statement to which you respond.

What’s decisive is that you state a clear opinion, justify it with a reason and ideally an example, and draw a small conclusion. The style is neutral – neither fully private nor strictly formal.

The most common losses of marks: no clear opinion, no justification or off the topic. Whoever takes a position, justifies it with “weil” and gives an example writes convincingly.

What you practice:Giving an opinionJustifyingGiving examples

How to approach it

  1. 1

Read the topic and consider your opinion.

  2. 2

Start with your opinion (“Ich finde …”, “Meiner Meinung nach …”).

  3. 3

Justify it with “weil” and give an example from your everyday life.

  4. 4

Maybe name a counter-argument and refute it.

  5. 5

    Close with a short conclusion.

  6. 6

Check at the end: clear opinion, justification, on the topic?

Example task with answer

A short example in the same format: the task and a model post.

Aufgabe

Why? The post states a clear opinion (from about twelve), justifies it (“weil die Eltern …”), names a counter-argument and an example (the sister) and draws a conclusion – exactly what Part 2 expects.

Practice: test yourself

In einem Forum geht es um das Thema „Sollte man weniger Fleisch essen?".

Common mistakes

1
No clear opinion

Take a position. A forum post without an opinion feels incomplete.

2
Opinion without a reason

“Ich finde das gut.” isn’t enough. Justify with “weil …” and give an example.

3
Off the topic

Write exactly on the given topic, not about something else.

4
Wrong register

Write neutrally – not too private (“Hallo Leute”) and not strictly formal.

Tips

  • Start with your opinion and justify it with “weil”.
  • Give an example from your everyday life – that makes the post convincing.
  • Close with a short conclusion.

Frequently asked questions

How long should the forum post be?

Around 80 words, in which you state your opinion, justify it and give an example.

Do I need a greeting and sign-off?

In a forum post usually not. You start directly with your opinion on the topic.

Do I have to justify my opinion?

Yes. Justify it with “weil …” and ideally give an example. That shows B1 level.

How do I get feedback on my post?

The official PDF answer key does not grade writing. At Prepliq a mock exam grades your text automatically against the official criteria.
